EV Stories - Joel's Tesla Model Y
Joel is a co-host of the EV Geek Podcast. I got to chat with him about his Tesla and Kia EV6, and what EV life is like in the Arkansas. This is Joel's story.

ABOUT THE VIDEO
Joel is the creator behind the EV Geek Podcast, and was a great guest.
What was planned to be a 30 minute interview turned into an hour-and-a-half conversation covering a wide range of EV life related topics like EV life in what I mistakenly noted as the ‘MidWest’ when in fact Joel’s in Arkansas, one of our great Southern states.
We get into how the podcast started, how he transitioned to an electric vehicle, and later, how his wife chose to replace her car with an EV. Having lived in SoCal my entire life, what I found most compelling is Joel’s depiction of EV ownership in the South.
I really enjoyed our conversation and learned a lot from it. I can’t thank Joel enough for joining me to share his story.

ABOUT THE SHOOT
For this video I leaned on a tool I used quite extensively while hosting a Meetup group for [Ad] Divi, a Wordpress theme by Elegant Themes . The app is eCamm Live. While I excelled using eCamm Live to run what was basically a webinar, I found live switching users, graphic elements, and scenes a little cumbersome.
Now, I curse. A lot. At the top of the call, I was fighting to get Joel’s video to display in a two-up shot. Not to waste his time I said “Fuck it” and flipped from trying to run a full on live stream-type recording to instead, just rolled knowing my eCamm Live sessions are configured to record host and guest feeds as individual recordings with discrete audio tracks. So that’s why at the beginning of the video you hear me tell Joel, “I’ll bleep out the expletives.”
The two videos of Joel’s feed and mine were brought into Final Cut and edited using its Multicam Editing Workflow. It was my first time using this tool and found it very easy to work with.
