Which EV fits my Drive?

This is the one where you'll learn how to use a free app to simulate what a road trip is like in any electric vehicle

Thank you!

First and foremost, thank you to all of you for following me here!

It’s been a while since my last post. The past couple of months have my wife and I changing up our core business Trivessa (try-vay-sah), from building websites to video production. With the change we have been busy with client work.

Sadly, getting videos out for Green Car Geek took a hit.

Well, that ends now!

But before I continue, I’d just like to a moment to say, ‘Thank you!’ to all who have stuck with me. Also, a great big, ‘Thank You!’ to those who, while I was away, chose to follow me here.

I truly appreciate you for hanging in there with me! I also hope you share this video with any friends you have that are thinking of making the 'Shift out of the ICE Age and into an EV.’™

Help for EV shoppers

This post kicks off a brand new series of videos specifically for those who are thinking of buying an EV.

This is the premier episode. With it, I introduce you to a web app that will help you determine if an EV suits you’re driving needs. This web app allows you to compare up to three electric vehicles against almost any driving scenario you can dream up.

As parents, my wife and I have experienced that typical drive every parent will contend with. It goes something like this…

  • leave home

  • drop off child(ren) at school

  • head to work

  • after work, pick up child(ren) from school

  • grab them a snack

  • drop them off at after school activity (soccer, little league, dance, etc) class

  • make a Target/grocery run

  • pick the child up from activity

  • head home

Seem familiar?

We will use this itinerary and a road trip to answer these and other questions:

  • How much energy does each take to complete the run?

  • Will any of the cars be able to do this five days straight before having to charge?

  • Would this be feasible even if I am unable to install charger?

  • Which car makes the best use of the energy I’m putting into it?

  • and more!

Rivian’s A Better Route Planner EV Comparison web app is useful way to dry run any driving scenario without the need of an account, handing over an email address, or credit card.

About the video

Recorded over the weekend of Catalunya F1 race, this video is one I’ve been wanting to get out for a while now.

This kicks off my new series, EV Shoppers Toolbox. EV Shoppers Toolbox will be a collection of videos specifically for folks shopping for their first EV. With the series I hope to share knowledge of web resources, apps that will help alleviate any concerns about electric vehicles and hopefully make improve confidence in which vehicle is best for their specific needs, before visiting a dealer.

Expect more videos like this in the coming weeks.

Making of the video

First, you might not notice, but this is shot in HD. Why? A few reasons:

  • After a little over 20 years, our trusty Drobo died. With it went the source footage for all of the videos on YouTube and a library B-roll footage.

  • Another reason is Substack. Substack supports HD video by default. The camera in the teleprompter is my trusty Canon T7i. While it has a 24 Megapixel sensor, its max video capture size is 1920x1080 progressive. So to keep file sizes to a minimum, and having lost 17TB of storage, HD is the way forward for the channel.

  • Finally, I’ve come to the conclusion that Green Car Geek is a pure passion project, not a source of income. What money, if any, generated by this site, the videos, or the new shop, will go right back into keeping it running.

How can you help?

Green Car Geek is made for you, with love, in California.

Here are a few ways you can help keep the channel running…

  • Pledge to support Green Car Geek with a subscription.

  • Pick up something from the Shop for yourself, a family member, or a friend.

  • Share links to posts, or YouTube videos with your friends or followers on social media.

All of your help you offer is greatly appreciated!
